Hopwoods Tap House
Welcome to Hopwoods Tap House, a lively spot on Church Street in Preston that has quickly become a go-to for anyone who enjoys great food paired with craft beers in a relaxed setting. The first thing you notice is the energy inside; rustic wood décor, exposed brick walls, and a buzzing bar that sets the tone for a casual yet memorable evening. Whether you’re here for a quick pint after work or planning a night out with friends, the menu gives plenty of reasons to stay longer than expected.
Food here goes beyond the typical pub grub. Burgers come stacked with juicy patties and creative toppings like smoked bacon or blue cheese, while their loaded fries often steal the spotlight with generous portions. I tried the buttermilk chicken burger, and it was crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. Sharing platters are another highlight, perfect for groups who want to graze while sampling from the drinks list. Reviews often point out that portions are hearty and prices fair, which makes it an attractive choice for students, locals, and visitors alike.
Of course, the real star is the drinks selection. Hopwoods takes pride in showcasing a rotating line-up of craft beers and ciders from both local breweries and well-known names across the UK. Each visit feels slightly different because of the changing taps, and the staff are knowledgeable enough to recommend pairings if you’re undecided. Cocktails and spirits are also available, meaning everyone in your group can find something to enjoy.
The location on Church Street is central, making it easy to drop in before heading to nearby music venues or theatres. With attentive service, a warm atmosphere, and a menu that balances comfort with creativity, Hopwoods Tap House has carved out a strong reputation in Preston. It’s the kind of place that invites you to linger, discover new flavors, and come back for more.

Visited for drinks of Saturday with my boyfriend, I love Hopwoods due to the disco bathroom and wide range of unique drinks. Jack served us and was brilliant, as always, friendly and funny, he even made one of our favourite cocktails with a twist and it was amazing!
On a recent visit to Hopwoods, i was thoroughly impressed with the service provided. I was served by a guy named Will, who was welcoming and knowledgeable about the beers, his personality really shone through and he pours a good pint! I'll be back.
I visited on a Saturday night, the place was lively and good music was being played. They have the biggest selection of lager and cider I have ever seen! It’s pricey for the north but I will let them off as they serve Hawkstone here.
